この度HECTAREでは、August Hugo（オウグスト・フーゴ）、福田周平、Oh Hyunseog（オ・ヒョンソク）、Theodor Nymark（テオ・ヌマーク）によるグループ展「Biome」を開催します。本展では、国内外から4名のアーティストを招き、脱人間主義的な時間とスケールで自然と人工物の複雑な関係性について探求します。本展は、アートとデザインの領域をゆるやかに横断しながら、素材と空間といった二項対立を超えた新たな対話を試みます。

August Hugoは、デジタルファブリケーションと物質の接点に注目し、技術と思考のプロセスをかたちに変換することで、素材の運動性や構築行為を可視化します。福田周平は、銀箔を用いて制作しており、その作品を自然環境に置くことで経年変化を起こします。そして銀箔の表面に現れる腐食や変色を、自然環境と物質のやり取りとして表現しています。Oh Hyunseogは、工業素材を組み合わせ、身体と構造の関係を再考する彫刻的な家具を制作しています。作品は実用性を超えて、環境のなかで佇む構造体として現れます。Theodor Nymarkは、映像、詩、記録、語りといった異なる層を重ねながら、風景と身体、記憶と時間が交差する複層的な視覚環境を構築します。

人間の活動が地球の地層や環境に痕跡を残す時代、「人新世」と呼ばれる現代において、自然と人工、物と空間の関係は、かつてないほどに複雑で流動的なものになっています。本展では、こうした関係性を従来のアートやデザインの枠組みに揺らぎをかけながら再考します。人間中心的視点から一歩距離を置いた地点から、素材や構造、現象と時間のあいだで重なる端点を捉えようとします。

HECTARE is pleased to present the group exhibition Biome, featuring works by August Hugo, Fukuda Shuhei, Oh Hyunseog, and Theodor Nymark. This exhibition brings together four artists from Japan and abroad to explore the complex relationship between nature and artificiality through a post-anthropocentric perspective on time and scale.

August Hugo focuses on the intersection between digital fabrication and materiality, transforming technological and conceptual processes into form in order to visualize the dynamism of materials and acts of construction. Shuhei Fukuda works with silver leaf, allowing his pieces to undergo changes over time by placing them in natural environments. The corrosion and discoloration that appear on the silver’s surface are expressed as an exchange between natural forces and materiality. Oh Hyunseog creates sculptural furniture by combining industrial materials, reconsidering the relationship between the body and structure. His works exist as structures that stand quietly within the environment, transcending mere functionality. Theodor Nymark constructs multi-layered visual environments by layering video, poetry, documentation, and storytelling, interweaving landscape, body, memory, and time.

In the current era often referred to as the "Anthropocene," in which human activity leaves irreversible marks on the Earth's geology and ecosystems, the boundaries between nature and artificiality, objects and space, have become increasingly complex and fluid. Biome seeks to engage with these relationships, stepping back from human-centered perspectives to explore the points of contact that emerge between material, structure, phenomena, and time.
