HECTARE is pleased to present “DISLOCATION,” a solo exhibition by Paris-based artist Jb Hanak. This series explores the sensation of time being interrupted, unraveled, and appearing in fragments. Time may seem to flow like a continuous line, but at times it feels stretched long, while at other moments it seems to collapse in an instant. By fixing this ambiguity within painting, the instability of our perception of time is made visible.

Jb Hanak’s works are based on abstract structures while also bringing forth partial figurations. They suggest parts of a larger image, but the whole is never shown. Viewers engage with the works while moving back and forth between certainty and uncertainty. Furthermore, lines and patterns extend to the edges and even to the reverse of the canvas, continuing beyond the frame. Through this expansion, the sense of time unravels, and a flow without an end arises. Jb Hanak is also active as a musician. He creates dense and complex resonances using strong rhythms and overlapping sounds. This sensibility is also reflected in his paintings, where multiple elements overlap without converging into a single image, maintaining a constant tension.

In this exhibition, the framework of time is dismantled and reassembled in a shifted form. Images lose their position, fragments remain suspended without intersecting, and time, failing to align, tilts toward a new structure.
